We disembarked early in the morning on a pre-breakfast kayak outing along the coast of Darwin Bay on Genovesa Island. What an incredible and outstanding view of all the vertical cliffs, the birds flying everywhere, and the sunrise colors. After breakfast we went on a wet landing to explore Darwin Bay and the large nesting grounds of red footed boobies, swallow tailed gulls, Nazca boobies. We were even lucky enough to spot a couple of lava gulls within the salt bushes along the coast.
We were lucky to spot a large number of young red footed boobies exercising their wings and getting ready to handle life on their own. Along the trail we saw a few Galapagos doves, yellow crown night herons, sea lions, and a few species of Darwin finches.
After the walk, we went snorkeling and saw a large variety of fish and fur seals in the water. A couple of hammer head sharks were also spotted.
During the afternoon hike we spotted a large nesting ground of red footed boobies, and the highlight of the visit to Prince Phillippe steps was spotting a couple of short eared owls very close to the trail.
We finished our day with an amazing sunset. Birds flying across the orange sky and great memories from the place that inspired young naturalists like Darwin to see the world through the eyes of science.
