Genovesa, or Tower Island as it is called in English, was formed by a recent volcano that collapsed hundreds of thousands of years ago, creating a natural harbor with deep turquoise waters. This is the island with one of the largest concentrations of seabirds in the world; red-footed boobies are quite abundant, as well as red-billed tropicbirds and storm petrels.
