I grew up in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, the driest state in a very dry continent. The difference between the ecosystem there and the coastal temperate rainforest environment that we continue to explore here in southeast Alaska could not be any starker and I love it!

The weather has taken a turn for the better here and the staff and guests relished the sun making an appearance as we arrived in beautiful conditions on the beach at George Island this morning. This afternoon we enjoyed a tour de force of Alaskan coastal wildlife spotting with Steller sea lions, sea otters, humpback whales, and bald eagles just some of the animals showing up for our Zodiac cruise around the pristine verdant coastline of the Inian Islands.
