Several guests on board the National Geographic Sea Bird started the day on the bow with calm seas. It was a classic misty southeast Alaska mood and the excitement from last night’s incredible killer whale display was still hanging in the air. The wildlife sightings would continue! We started with expedition landing craft tours and hiking on George Island. This was followed by a visit from Mary Jo, one of just ten winter residents of Elfin Cove. Due to a few tourist lodges and fishing operations, the population of the community swells to about 85 in the summer. She shared with us stories about life in the community before we went for a walk to explore where we interacted with the locals and took some great photos. After lunch we loaded the expedition landing craft for tours around the Inian Islands.
