Sunshine and blue skies were in abundance as we visited Glacier Bay National Park. Park Ranger Kelly Wood and Tlingit Cultural Interpreter Mary Jack Shadow joined us on board for the morning, enlightening us with their stories and insight. Then we headed out to explore.

South Marble Island provided sounds and sights courtesy of Steller sea lions, tufted and horned puffins, and a plethora of other seabirds going about their morning business. Gloomy Knob was quite cheery in the sun, and we spotted a group of mountain goats traversing its rugged slopes, browsing for lichens and other greens. White thunder rolled at Margerie Glacier as calving sections stirred flocks of black-legged kittiwakes into flight. We observed a brown bear and humpback whale on our way to see the Johns Hopkins Glacier and Tarr Inlet suture zone.

Our evening closed with Kim Heacox putting the final flourish on our day with music and stories about all things Alaska.
