Today we spent all day navigating Glacier Bay National Park. This vast land is one of the very few virtually intact ecosystems in the world. From the ship, we searched for wildlife and viewed the magnificent glaciers and fjords.
Early in the morning some of us got a glimpse of two Alexander Archipelago wolves, followed by a brief coastal brown bear sighting. Some of the other wildlife sightings were a breaching humpback who repeatedly leapt out of the water, mountain goat sightings at Gloomy Knob, and an exciting encounter watching a young peregrine falcon practice some of its first hunting attempts. We witnessed the fastest animal on earth stooping repeatedly to hunt a glaucous-winged gull. It was an amazing acrobatic event to observe.
