This beautiful morning started anchored in a spot near Casa Orquideas in Costa Rica. Our groups disembarked off the ship to the privately owned botanical gardens for guided hikes. They were hoping for views of the variety of plants and flowers to behold and perhaps to capture a picture of the birds that commonly visit the gardens. Today there were tanagers, parrots, macaws, woodpeckers, among other colorful song birds.

The afternoon started with a lovely lunch and the global market in the lounge where the hotel department offered hand woven, water tight Embera tribe baskets and other gifts items. While we positioned to our destination a presentation was offered by Frederico Chacon on the history of Costa Rica.

The activities began with a kayak trip in the mangrove trees and DIB boat tours along the coast. Some of the adventurers spotted howler monkeys and white faced monkeys! Lastly, we stopped in Golfito for customs, to take on supplies, and to see a local Costa Rican port. Dinner was fantastic and afterwards we had a delightful presentation on biodiversity by Margrit Ulrich.
