Today we started our first day of expeditions in the exuberant region of Golfo Dulce, within Costa Rican boundaries. We visited a pristine mangrove habitat known as Rio Tigre where our guests had the opportunity to do kayaking and zodiacs rides. We were able to watch several species of mangroves trees such as red mangrove, black mangrove and tea mangrove. Also, many birds were spotted perched on these trees, including species like snowy egret, spotted sandpiper, white ibis and ringed kingfisher.
After a delicious lunch aboard, we repositioned to visit Casa Orquidea. This lovely garden had several trails. we walked and enjoyed the sound of the birds calls and the colorful flowering plants. Several birds were sighted, including red-headed manakin, yellow-throated toucan, cherrie´s tanager and scarlet macaws. We were also delighted by colorful orchids, heliconias, hibiscus, and several other flowering plants. The warm temperature of the air invited some of us to swing in the clear water of the gulf at the end of our walks.
