The sunrises in Baja California are renowned. A few of us sat on the bow, eagerly awaiting the sun to break the horizon. The cascade of reds and oranges slowly gave way to the morning light. With the breeze at our backs, we set to round the capes before us.

Offshore, the shallow waters of the Gorda Banks offer a breeding habitat for migratory humpback whales. These charismatic giants were the focus of our day as we watched them breach, roll, and put on quite the show before us.

Cruising towards the sunset, we passed whale after whale. Between spouts in the distance and breaches off our beam, the abundance of life in these waters is apparent and reflects the beauty and allure of this incredible place.
