Haines, the adventure capital of the world, was nothing short of spectacular today. Before setting out on the Chilkat River, guests spent the morning watching traditional dance and storytelling rituals of the Tlingkit in the village of Klukwan. Then while floating the Chilkat River, we saw dozens of bald eagles fishing, building nests and watching from their perches as we floated down the river.

Others spent the morning perusing the local shops and museums before taking in the magnificent scenes on a bike tour to the Chilkoot Lake where they saw bear and eagles.

As always, flightseeing was a highlight of the day as guests were able to see a moose, mountain goats and bears with cubs. But, the intensely blue glaciers stole the show, as they often do.

After a busy day on land, guests capped off a perfect day by devouring 85 pounds of local Dungeness crab.
