“Good morning. This is an early wake-up call, and you might want to look outside”, was how we started our day at 6:30 on this spectacular day in Ilulissat. The tabular ice seemed surreal as it was floating above the low fog.

We started our day early with a cruise within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ilulissat Icefjord, which is the largest in the world and located above the Arctic Circle. We cruised around towering tabular ice of all sizes that have calved off the Jakobshavn Glacier and grounded themselves on the terminal moraine. We continued our adventures with a hike down to the fjord from the modern Ilulissat Isfjordscenter and were treated with one of the most spectacular scenes of ice, extending as far as the eye could see. The glacial ice sparkled in the sun and created loud cracking noises as it worked its way down the fjords. What an epic day in Greenland!
