This morning, we anchored amongst the Inian Islands and were greeted by humpback whales circling National Geographic Sea Bird. We spent the morning exploring these nutrient-rich waters, watching humpback whales feed, sea otters rest in the kelp forests, and Steller sea lions catching and thrashing fish in the fast currents. It was an eventful and wildlife-filled morning.
We then navigated to Saltchuk Bay, where we headed to shore for hikes and kayaking. We explored the coastal temperate rainforest, finding fungi, lichens, and clear creeks. Some even spotted salmon jumping and swimming near their kayaks.
