We woke up in the community of Inverie, a locally owned village that's only accessible by boat or a 17-mile walk. We ventured out for two walks before breakfast—a longer fast-paced hike with Robin and a slower photo walk with Anna.
After breakfast, we sailed to the Isle of Eigg, one of the Small Isles in the Inner Hebrides, located 13 miles from the mainland. The island has been community owned since 1997 and produces all its energy from renewable sources. We had the option of three activities—kayaking, going on a long nature hike with Robin, or a slower-paced photo walk with Anna. The kayakers had some exciting seal sightings!
During the afternoon, we sailed past Ardnamurchan Point and Lighthouse, the westernmost point in mainland Britain, before arriving in the colorful seaside town of Tobermory, which was designed by Thomas Telford in 1788. Guests had the option of taking a walk to the Tobermory Lighthouse with local geologist, Seamus. Others chose to tour the Tobermory Distillery, which was followed by a tasting. Afterward, many chose to grab an ice cream from Isle of Mull Ice Cream.
