The wind and the rain from the previous day had abated and we were to enjoy some fine weather. We sailed from Inverie early and headed for Tobermory. Along the way we caught sight of some dolphins as well as a good number of seabirds, always a joy to see.
The fine weather meant an early arrival into Tobermory. Straight after lunch we ventured out to explore this delightful town, popping into an array of local cafes and stores, before assembling for our afternoon activities. For some this entailed a tour of the local distillery which ended in a tasting of some of the fine whiskies made here. For others there was a walk with an enthusiastic local geologist to a lighthouse nearby. Along the way, many stops were made to learn about dykes, faults, and other aspects of the Isle of Mull’s long and tumultuous past.
In the late afternoon we set sail for Craignure, where we are to spend the night.
The day ended with a wonderful presentation by Siobhan, from the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. It was a full and enjoyable day.
