We woke up early in the morning to enjoy the view of large volcanoes and look for wildlife activity in the ocean as we navigated over the nose of the seahorse shaped island. A few species of birds were spotted, such as the Galapagos shearwater and storm petrels.
After breakfast we got ready to go on a Zodiac ride along the coast of Isabela Island to explore the wildlife inhabiting this area, known as Punta Vicente Roca. We spotted a few of the Galapagos fur seals, Galapagos penguins, flightless cormorants, and plenty of Pacific green sea turtles basking on the surface of the ocean. On the walls we encountered a few of the blue footed boobies and Nazca boobies resting on this sunny day.
After the Zodiac ride we went deep water snorkeling. While snorkeling we found a few of the Pacific green sea turtles swimming very close to us, a couple of Galapagos sea lions, and a large variety of fish. One of the most incredible sightings we had while snorkeling was spotting approximately 7 ocean sun fish underneath us. This is the largest bone fish in the world and usually does not come close to shallow waters, but we were delighted to spot several of them at the snorkeling site.
After lunch we had a dry landing at Espinoza point to photograph the largest colonies of Marine Iguanas on the trip, Galapagos hawks, sea lions and flightless cormorants. This is the youngest island in the archipelago and one of the most pristine islands among the tropics.
