Today we woke up in front of the majestic Alcedo Volcano in Urbina Bay off Isabela Island. As soon as we disembarked, we found a couple giant tortoises on the trail. For most of our guests, this was their first encounter with these giants. We also found a few land iguanas basking in the early sunshine to warm up their bodies. We were amazed by the lush and green landscape on the islands following the rainy season.
After a delicious Mexican lunch, we went kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling along the shore of Tagus Cove. We ended the day with an invigorating walk to the top of a peak where we could appreciate a portion of the landscape on Isabela Island. Everyone was amazed by how green the island is, even the naturalists! Most of the year, the island remains super dry and most of the trees are bare. We concluded this day with the traditional recapitulation of our day onboard National Geographic Islander.
