Peaceful and isolated Vigur Island is the last place on earth you might expect to be viciously attacked. The weapons of choice for this ambush were sharp beaks and ear splitting screeches, wielded by the aggressive arctic terns fiercely protecting their nests from the intruding strangers…us. Our afternoon was much less confrontational; although a car accident that closed Iceland's longest tunnel left some of our group stranded on the wrong side of the fjord. All's well that ends well, and the temporary delay ended up rewarding us with an extra cup of coffee and bonus time in the quaint village of Flateyri.
