Our first outing was at Isla del Carmen, the largest of the Loreto Archipelago, where we admired the abandoned village of Punta Salina, a salt-work that was used during the Jesuit occupation in the 17th Century and disappeared due to the operations of the Guerrero Negro mine in the modern era. Guests also enjoyed a snorkeling session over a shrimp boat shipwreck that has occupied the sandy bottom since the 50s.
In the afternoon we visited Isla Danzante, named by early explorers as the meeting point of indigenous medicine men and is where they shared knowledge. We explored the island and enjoyed its dramatic views of the Sierra de la Giganta as we learned about the adaptations of the organisms that inhabit it.
