We spent the morning on the Isle of Iona, the “Cradle of Christianity.” Some of us opted for a long hike around this picturesque island. Others stayed in town to explore the abbey, which was established by Columba in 563 AD and still holds services today. We enjoyed perusing the shops for locally made wares and finished off our time in Iona with lunch at Martyr’s Bay Restaurant.

After lunch, we returned to the Isle of Mull to see Duart Castle, but on the way, we had a beautiful impromptu encounter with a herd of Highland cows! After getting plenty of photos, we continued to the castle. Duart Castle was originally built in the 13th century and restored in the early 20th century by Sir Fitzroy Donald Maclean, chief of Clan MacLean.

We returned to the ship to enjoy dinner together and will certainly sleep well tonight!
