This morning we woke up with a cloudy sky and the perfect amount of wind for sailing. Our sailors climbed and set the sails as we enjoyed another beautiful morning on Sea Cloud.

Later on we had some sunshine, it was practically “playing” with the clouds, enough to admire the blue colors of the Ionian sea, going north to Katakolo-Olympia. Tom Heffernan—our historian—gave a talk on Greek mythology and put us in the spirit of the Olympic Games. Later, Jose Calvo—our photo instructor—gave us instructions about landscape photography.

While having lunch we approached the port of Katakolo where skillfully—despite the wind—our Captain docked in the port. Forty minutes later we were in Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games. With our Greek guides we spent the afternoon exploring the unique archaeological site at Olympia where everything started. Since this year is an Olympic year it was even more interesting to see exactly where the Olympic flame is lit. In the magnificent museum we admired some of the highlight of the ancient Greek art.

Early in the evening we returned to the ship and the day ended with a delicious Greek dinner buffet followed by ouzo and mastiqua liqueur accompanied by piano music on the lido deck.
