Today, we explored the stunning archipelago of Karimunjawa in the Java Sea. This cluster of 27 islands, home to primarily Javanese people, offers a rich cultural experience. The islands' history is marked by 13th-century Chinese ceramics, hinting at ancient trade routes. In 2001, 22 of the islands were designated as the Karimunjawa National Park, a marine reserve.
Our day began with morning yoga led by Wellness Specialist Kat, setting a peaceful tone. After breakfast at the outdoor café, National Geographic Photographer Krista shared her expertise on visual storytelling, enriching our understanding of capturing travel experiences. Cultural Specialist Birgit captivated us with a presentation on Buddhism, delving into its regional significance and spiritual practices.
Post-lunch, we ventured into the calm waters for snorkeling, immersing ourselves in the vibrant marine life of Karimunjawa.
As the sun set, we gathered for cocktail hour with our talented bartenders, Eric and Ricky, who mixed delightful drinks while our expedition team provided a recap and briefing. Dinner in the restaurant rounded off our day, filled with new experiences and insights.
