This morning, we arrived at the world famous and much anticipated Komodo Island. We began our day with an early start to catch the dragons in their most active state and to avoid the midday sun. As soon as we landed on the beach, we began to see the dragons and resident Timor deer roaming the national park. Some of the guests opted for a bird focused walk whilst the rest trekked across the rugged landscape searching for more of these large reptiles. We were treated with many sightings, including a juvenile dragon and the rare blue viper.
For the afternoon activities, we ventured to the aptly named, Pink Beach. From here we had many options of water activities available including snorkelling, diving, and exploring in the glass bottom Zodiac. It was a great day with clear water and abundant marine life. The hotel team also joined us on the beach to supply some much-appreciated snacks and refreshments.
