We made our way north along the western coast of Svalbard, heading into Krossfjorden when the call came from the bridge – blue whale! This giant of the ocean passed along the ship for a while and showed its impressive and beautiful fluke a few times. Magnificent.
We continued farther into the fjord, where we cruised alongside the massive and stunning Lilliehookbreen, a glacier with gorgeous mountains as a backdrop.
The afternoon was dedicated to our last landing of the trip, and we made our way to 14th of Julybreen at the mouth of Krossfjorden. Some of us went on a Zodiac cruise with puffins all around. The rest set off for hikes on shore. Arctic foxes were seen sneaking around the landing, and the birdlife was fantastic. We went hiking up a steep hill and were rewarded with spectacular views. Spirits were high!
Back at the ship, the captain’s farewell cocktail party awaited. As we summed up this amazing trip, we realized how lucky we had been with the weather, the wildlife, and the mood onboard. This is a trip to remember for all of us.
