The last full day of our expedition started in Chatham Strait, the channel that separates Chichagof and Baranof Islands. We spent the morning cruising calm waters and were lucky enough to spot a humpback whale displaying pectoral fin flapping and partial breaching.

In the light afternoon rain, we anchored in Hanus Bay and hiked through the temperate rain forest up to Lake Eva. We walked amongst huge Sitka Spruce and Western hemlock trees, spotted red breasted sap suckers, and some hikers even got a glimpse of a brown bear!

The day’s adventures ended with guests diving, jumping, and back rolling into the cold Alaskan waters for the polar plunge.
