Icebergs on the horizon signaled our arrival in Antarctica. Our guests enjoyed blue skies and the mirrored reflections of icebergs and mountains in the glassy water as we cruised the legendary Lemaire Channel. We had a chance to wave to our friends as they passed by on National Geographic Explorer…as you do in Antarctica.

One of the special programs offered by Lindblad/National Geographic is the opportunity for visiting scientists to join our expeditions and conduct field research. Yueyi Che and Colin Chamberlin from Stanford University are here to study sea ice. They are looking at its chemical composition to better understand the element cycle in Antarctica.
