Early this morning, we woke up at anchorage close to Los Islotes, small islets just north of Isla Partida, part of the Espiritu Santo—Partida Islands complex. Here we went to visit the sea lion colony, which is probably one of the most visited colonies of sea lions in Mexico.

We did Zodiacs cruises along the south side of this small rook, looking at the sea lions (about 300), hauling out in this breeding colony. This is one of 13 sea lion rookeries we can find inside the Sea of Cortez. Breeding season for this species starts in June with females giving birth to their pups, then after a few days mating season starts again. Females may nurse their pups for one year.

After the Zodiac cruises we entered into the water, looking for good experiences swimming and snorkeling with these sea lions, and we found them!

At noon Video Chronicler Bradford showed the preview of the DVD for this trip, and Mike Greenfelder showed the video he took at Los Islotes this morning.

In the early afternoon, water activities were organized at Bahia Bonanza on Espiritu Santo Island: kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and snorkeling from the beach, which everybody enjoyed! We ended our visit to this island with some hikes into the desert looking for the endemic black jack rabbit.

This was the final day of our journey in Baja California Sur. We will keep our awesome pictures, names of all we’ve met, and great memories of this adventure with Mother Nature.
