Today started early as the National Geographic Sea Lion lowered anchor at Los Islotes to get in the water with active juvenile California sea lions. We were not disappointed.
Since we usually see these pinnipeds laying out in the sun, it was great to see them in their true element, they are incredibly graceful in the water.A few mobula rays even passed us by. As the sea lions made their way onto the rocks in the late morning, we made our way into expedition landing crafts to view them there.
The afternoon led us to a small beach at Ensenada Grande where the clear turquoise waters let us kayak, snorkel, stand-up paddleboard, and hike into the arroyo. The hotel team grilled up some tasty food for us to enjoy on the beach. As day turned to night, the tripods came out for sunset photos and astrophotography.
