This morning the National Geographic Sea Lion anchored in front of Mogo Mogo and Contadora Island.

This beautiful set of islands flank the bay of Panama and are a part of the Pearl Islands archipelago, once one of the most important places in the world for finding pearls.

After a light breakfast, some of the guests departed for an early expedition landing craft cruise around Mogo Mogo while the sun rose and the birds awakened. We spotted brown pelicans, frigate birds, cormorants, oyster catchers, tiger herons, and several other water birds that found shelter and food in this incredible area.

After the second round of expedition landing craft cruises, the guests went to the beach where they enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding.  We had time for strolling along the beach and seeing the tide pools of the bay. A highlight was being able to enjoy the breeze under the shade of a wild cashew tree.

At midday we all went back to the vessel for lunch. We set sail for our next destination that will cover 200 nautical miles.

Later in the day we enjoyed a photography lecture from one of our photographer experts, as well as learned about the marine life that we may encounter.

It was a pleasant sail towards into sunset, looking forward to a new day full of adventures at our next destination on board the National Geographic Sea Lion.
