Yesterday evening marked an exquisite journey that took us through the enchanting Bay of Kotor, a fjord-like gem nestled between the rugged Montenegrin mountains. The waters shimmered as our vessel carved through them, revealing a mesmerizing panorama. I couldn't help but be captivated by the striking interplay of sea, sky, and mountains. As we cruised along, the dramatic coastline unfolded like a vivid tapestry, each bend revealing quaint villages, historic churches, and impressive fortifications perched atop the cliffs.

And this morning we explored part of that same coast by coach and foot. We went to the small, historical town of Perast with a church dedicated to St. Nicholas, the most popular saint amongst mariners. We also took a local boat to see the chapel on the manmade island of Our Lady of the Rocks. The rain did not stop us from exploring Kotor, with both its Orthodox and Catholic churches. It was crowded with people from all over the world. It seems that everybody wants to explore Montenegro.

The second part of our day brought us to the tranquil village of Njegushi, a hidden gem nestled in the highlands. Leaving the coastline behind, we embarked on a picturesque journey through winding roads that led us to this pastoral haven.

Stepping into Njegushi felt like stepping into a different era. The terracotta roofs and the simple elegance of its architecture all spoke to a heritage deeply rooted in tradition. With the towering peaks as a backdrop, the village emanated an atmosphere of serenity.

We were rewarded with breathtaking vistas, even with the rain, even with the mist. It made it all more mysterious. The verdant landscape, punctuated by bursts of color from wildflowers, invoked a sense of harmony and connection with nature.

The Bay of Kotor's mystique and Negushi's authenticity created an unforgettable synergy, inviting us to connect with the soul of this remarkable region.

As we sailed away from the Bay of Kotor, I couldn't help but feel profoundly grateful to be part of this voyage, of Lindblad and National Geographic, on board the legendary Sea Cloud, which allows us to immerse ourselves in the beauty and culture that make this world so captivating.

Until tomorrow's adventures.
