We had an amazing first full day in the Galapagos today! This morning, we made a dry landing at North Seymour Island. Exploring inland, we found blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds as well as Galapagos land iguanas.
In the afternoon, we visited Rabida Island and enjoyed the beautiful red sand beach as well as our first snorkeling activity. We walked along the beach during sunset and observed sea lions and different birds, including pelicans and boobies feeding. This was definitely a great way to start our week in this magical place!
Karina López was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador where she received her bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality, a second technical degree as a Professional Guide of Ecuador, and a third diploma in French language at the Alliance Francaise.

Today is the last day of our expedition aboard National Geographic Endeavour II , and our exploration led us to captivating Genovesa. This island is often referred to as "Bird Island" due to its remarkable abundance of avian species. The day was highlighted by immersive encounters with unique wildlife and dramatic volcanic landscapes. We ventured to El Barranco, also known as Prince Philip's Steps, a dramatic cliffside location that showcases the island's unique geological formations. Our hike led us through a seabird colony, where Nazca boobies and storm petrels nest in the crevices of the rocky terrain. Breathtaking views from the top of the cliffs provided a perspective of the island's volcanic origins and the vast expanse of the surrounding ocean. At the same time, a leisurely walk along the sandy trails brought us close to the island's inhabitants. Swallow-tailed gulls and lava gulls perched on the rocks, offering photo opportunities against a backdrop of azure waters. After the walk, we had a chance to enjoy marine activities, including snorkeling and kayaking.
Before we arrived at the dock on Bartolome Island, we were greeted by a Galapagos penguin darting around our Zodiac, trying to catch his fishy breakfast. The morning light was perfect for our hike to one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Pinnacle Rock and surrounding islands. On our afternoon sail, we passed near one of the Bainbridge Islands to look inside the flooded crater. Sombrero Chino did not disappoint either, as our afternoon in the water brought us colorful fish, a spotted eagle ray, and penguins.
