A magical Upper Amazon exploration was displayed today at one of the most iconic visitor sites of the Reserve: Pacaya River.  A comfortable skiff ride along the riverside was going to set up the morning activities in order to delight our senses with the wonders of Mother Nature.  A Jungle Cafe breakfast outing enhanced our morning exploration as different kinds of bird species flew close to our location.  The calling of different birds was heard from all over the area we were having our jungle breakfast moment, and the company of pink river dolphins left us awe-inspired during the activity.

As soon as breakfast was over, a skiff ride was the perfect way to continue our journey exploring Pacaya River. Black collared hawks perched on trees, hoatzins fed on leaves, and birds of different kinds made it possible to enjoy the visit as the enormous trees found by the riverside decorated our view along the riverside.  Once back on board Delfin II, we had a wonderful origami towel folding demonstration that tested our creative skills.

The mosaic of wildlife that Pacaya River has on offer was on full display with the afternoon activities. A delightful skiff ride brought us deep into the reserve in order to enhance our experience with Mother Nature. The presence of cocoi herons, and jabiru wood storks made our experience astonishing.  Red howler monkeys that were found resting on the trees gave us the biggest surprise of the afternoon, and the combination of a blue sky along with the green foliage of the trees was the perfect complement to our afternoon experience.

As soon as we reached the farthest point of Pacaya River, Yanayacu Lake was the perfect host for our next inspiring activity: the Amazon plunge.  The presence of pink river dolphins combined with the company of a marvelous sunny sky above us enriched our swimming activity.  Our journey was over once we started heading back Delfin II. The sky splattered with grey clouds and pink colors, was a lovely sign that more awaits us tomorrow.
