We started our day on a skiff ride to explore the Pacaya Samirira reserve looking for wildlife along the tributary waters. Our first finding was a group of squirrel monkeys and several monk saki monkeys eating the cannonball fruits high up within the canopy.

A flock of Neo-Tropical cormorants were seen drying out their wings and perched on the death trees, as well as a large number of Great Egrets enjoying the swampy grasslands and looking for small catfishes.

We got to our morning destination and a large opening forming a calm water lagoon welcomed us. It was time to then jump in the water and we accomplished our Amazon plunge in waters filled with fish. We jumped in and the water was so refreshing, soon the beers came and it made it even better. What an incredible time; pink dolphins swimming around the area, large billed terns soaring the sky and a nice ride back to our mother ship.

During the afternoon, we headed out to explore Zapote Creek, where we were welcomed by a pair of yellow and blue macaws, who were exposed to the bright sky and flying In an out of a leafless tree, allowing us to get the best photographs of these iconic species from the Peruvian Amazon. Along the ride we also spotted a couple of local fishing canoes and their catch of the day, where kids were kind enough to show us the fish that soon would become dinner, and some other fishing tools they used in their every day outings.

We finished our day watching the interactions between a group of Monk Saki monkeys at the canopy of a cannon ball tree, and large variety of birds, including a few black collar hawks, plumbious hawks, yellow headed cara cara, and several species of tanagers.
