Today National Geographic Venture pulled up to the quintessential Alaskan town of Petersburg, a town at whose center is fishing and more fishing. In the late 1800’s, Peter Buschman saw this stretch of land on Mitkof Island as the ideal location for a fish processing plant, due to its close proximity to the LeConte glacier. Still today the town and the culture of its inhabitants very much revolve around fishing.
