Our day started with a fascinating presentation on geology by our wonderful naturalist Marylou Blakeslee. After a morning of whale watching, National Geographic Venture docked in Petersburg, Alaska for a full afternoon of muskeg walks, local tours, native guiding, and visiting this small fishing town’s annual Little Norway Festival.
Our day was joyously met with a bright and sunny sky and 80+ degree weather. We capped it off with cocktail hour on the bow. After gorging ourselves with pumpkin pie tarts, the lounge hosted a truly effervescent Ray Troll fashion walk and a crab eating tutorial featuring expedition leader John Mitchell in full sea otter regalia. Spirits were high all day as we hiked and learned in the sun, explored the downtown of the town that fish built, and began the journey to Tracy Arm for a final day of adventure!
