After three days of sunshine, we finally had a day of overcast skies as we awoke in Pinta Cove. With cooler weather, Alaska truly delivered its wild side. In the morning, we kayaked among kelp forests observing life along the shore and cruised on Zodiacs as humpbacks swam underneath us and fluked all around us.
In the afternoon, we had a magical experience in my favorite location, the Inian Islands. The Steller’s sea lions, sea otters, and bald eagles were out in force. In a single zodiac cruise, we managed to spot 44 bald eagles between watching dozens of sea lions cavorting through the waves, under and around the Zodiacs. Just before dinner, we watched sea otters munch on basket stars and sea urchins before heading back to the ship. Another eventful day in Southeast Alaska!
