Today was the last day of our expedition in the Azores, and we spent it exploring the island of São Miguel. We began by tasting some delicious Quesadas de Vila Franca do Campo, a traditional pastry from the area. After this sweet treat, we went to the geopark of Furnas and took a leisurely 2.5-mile walk around Furnas Lake. We ended at the hot springs, where we watched as our cozido (a traditional Azorean stew cooked in the ground for six hours using the Earth's heat) was dug out of its hole and placed in a van. It was then transported to the restaurant where we enjoyed it.

After our delicious cozido, we visited the oldest tea plantation in Europe. Afterwards, we stopped at a lovely viewpoint, where we took in the sights of the island of São Miguel before heading back to the ship. Back on board, we had our final cocktail hour with a farewell from Captain Oliver. Then it was time to say goodbye. What a wonderful trip it’s been!
