After breakfast this morning we went kayaking or hiking along the mudflats. The hikers saw chocolate lilies and lots of other flowers, and tons of bear signs. We found bear beds and tracks and dug up roots and scat and, best of all, we found “perennial” bear tracks. Perennial tracks are tracks that are reinforced every time a bear walks by because it smells the last bear that made the tracks.
This afternoon we explored the Inian Islands and saw amazing things that we haven’t before. We saw a minke whale surface about 15 feet away from the boat. We saw dozens of humpback whales, hundreds of Steller sea lions and many sea otters.
