Our trip begin with a great sunrise and good coffee! We were ready to explore Panama!

Coiba for a lot of years was one of the most remote prisons on the country, this is probably a reason why the forest is so well preserved.

Rancheria Island, also known as Coibita, was the first arrival place in Panama. The activity of the birds was amazing and the calm waters were perfect for swimming. Some of us were up for a walk, so we decide to take the trail to the view point of the island.

The entrance of the trail was surrounded by huge bamboo plants, creating a sort of vegetation tunnel… some of the local birds and animals like to hide so we took sometime time to spot them out: squirrels, agouties, birds and even iguanas.

The highlight of the walking trip was the viewpoint! Once we arrived, there was a long silence, I think everybody was breath taken by the great landscape, the color of the water, the rock formations, and the incredible amount of forest contrasting between greens and blues.  After taking in the scenery, we made our way back to the beach.

As tide went down, we made our way to another section of the protected area.  We relocate our ship near Granito de Oro Islet, one of best known places for snorkeling and the amount of coral within it.

The white sand and the hermit crabs are part of the common scenery, but once you enter into water, it’s another world - the colors and the various kinds of fish make the time go by too quickly. Every time somebody emerged from the water we heard another story about the fish. The parrot fish was a hot topic along with file fish, turtles, and even puffers fish, eels, and cornet fish.

Time flies when you’re having fun, and that was exactly what happened today in Panama.
