This morning, National Geographic Orion entered the narrow channel of Toau, a remote coral atoll within the Tuamotu Archipelago. We took advantage of the favorable weather conditions. Four cranes worked in unison and soon the marina deck was surrounded by a flotilla of Zodiacs: a glass bottom boat, standup paddle boards, kayaks, and of course the snorkel platform. We repositioned to the north passage entrance to Fakarava Atoll for our afternoon activities, where we explored the beautiful reefs of the northern section of the atoll and visited a small marae.
