Today we had a wonderful day exploring the beautiful tropical rainforest, considered the most biodiverse ecosystem. Thanks to more than 50 years of work by both private and government organizations to save this beautiful region in Costa Rica, the country was able to set aside nearly 25 percent as protected areas and recover almost 50 percent of its forest cover.

In the morning we explored one of the private protected areas known as Río Seco, where we spotted animals of many different species, including a close look at a spectacled caiman. For the afternoon we explored the forest by Zodiacs and kayaks; some of our favorite sightings included white-throated capuchin monkeys, mantled howler monkeys, and even a brown-throated three-toed sloth.
