Today was our last day in this magnificent place called Galapagos. This week of exploration and adventure has seemed almost unreal, like a dream; the Galapagos Islands bring magic to our souls and mind. It has been fascinating to travel from Fernandina to San Cristobal islands, the youngest and the oldest in the archipelago, allowing us to see the great diversity of geology and biology that exists here.

San Cristobal Island is one of the eldest in the Galapagos. Today we landed on a green olivine beach. The volcanic scenery that we observe during our intense hike is spectacular; the peaks of tuff high in the sky make this site very different from what we have already observed. Punta Pitt also has impressive scenery from up above – here we can see the inversion layer, which kept us cool and pleasantly comfortable for this walk. All of our senses became heightened, as we listened to our surroundings, in search of red-footed boobies.

Later, we repositioned to a nearby site known as Cerro Brujo; it is an impressive tuff formation standing massive on the shoreline. It has several beaches around that are made of white coral. We went for a walk along the beach, accompanied by many sea lions and sea birds. Some of our guests were very astonished at the feel of the sand, so fine that is almost feels like flour. This afternoon we also had the opportunity to go swimming, while some of us relaxed on the beach, just contemplating and admiring the magnificent scenery. We were just enjoying every single minute of solitude and quietness. Galapagos is a place that inspires us to change our lives, and to work towards a better world, a more harmonious coexistence with nature. That is why I say, today we were honored to be part of the unforgettable experience of our guests, and we hope one day they would have the will and power to make a positive change in this wonderful world.

Our expedition is now over. Life goes on, but we are now sure this place has changed many lives; a place which can never be fully described. We all came with different backgrounds, sharing this magic which can only exist in our hearts and minds forever.
