After breakfast, we rode our skiffs and landed on a small jetty to later explore a small community and learn about the sustainable procedures this village have followed in able to use Amazonian resources to live of the ground and river. We learned about the extraction of sugar cane with manually operated press, also learned about fish farms, created though the help of the Lindblad/National Geographic fund and channeled by the local nonprofit known as “Minga Peru”.
We visited local children school classes and watched them perform for us within their native outfits. We also got the opportunity to hear about all the projects happening in this community, such as; education and empowerment of women and young adults.
During the afternoon, we had the chance to explore Yarapa Creek. Along our skiff ride, we spotted a few colorful birds such as the yellow and blue macaws, snakebirds, great egrets, and a few jabiru storks.
We came back to our mother ship the Delfin ll with a beautiful sunset and an amazing full day exploring the Peruvian Upper Amazon.
