Today we had a very nice opportunity to visit the little community of San Francisco by the river, to see how the local people make a living in such a remote and isolated part of the world. Everyone greeted us at the shoreline upon our arrival. They were very friendly and welcoming, and they told us that they were excited to celebrate their 43nd anniversary in a few days.

San Francisco is about six hundred yards of a concrete sidewalk with very simple wooden homes on both sides, and the only concrete building in town is the school in the center.

We greatly enjoyed visiting with these people, and learning about their community. But the thing that probably impressed us the most today was to find that literally half of the inhabitants of San Francisco were hard at work painting their school. Clearly a sign of where the priorities of these people lie—in the unity of their collective community and their children.
