The exploration of the Upper Amazon is more than just wildlife and biodiversity. It’s also about its people, their culture and what they do to survive in this remote area.

During the morning, we had the opportunity to visit a small community called San Jorge. As we wander through it, we enjoyed seeing the village people in their daily activities. We also visited one of the school’s class rooms. We were greeted by the smiling student that felt honored of our visit.

We gathered later in the morning in a small open hall and some of their leader shared with us their life experiences. They have been receiving help from a nonprofit organization called Minga Peru. This organization has help the women to get empowered to help with the economy of their families.

In the afternoon, we explored a private reserve called Amazon Natural Park. With lovely trails that went through old forest and hanging bridges, this reserve is a major attraction of the area.
