One more day at the Upper Amazon in Peru, one more day full of great experiences for all of us. As the day began we got ready to share with the San Jorge’s community, this little place is part of the social program directed by MINGA Peru, a non-profit organization that helps in the development of different kind of projects in order to improve the quality of life of the local people.

At Lindblad Expeditions we are fully compromise with the social part of each country that we visit and we got the chance to see and understand that traveling with us is helping and touching many families at villages like San Jorge where many families now have their own fish farms, creating new jobs opportunities and a new income to all of them.

At mid morning we all got back aboard the Delfin II to continue navigating towards our next destination, the Clavero Lake. On the way we all witness the merge of the Ucayali and the Marañon Rivers, giving “birth” to the almighty Amazon River.

Finally we reach our destination, the Clavero Lake and as always, the excitement of the new discoveries made us all get happy.

One by one our skiff boats left the Delfin II to enjoy not only the beauty of this scenic place but also the wildlife that inhabits the area. Macaws, hawks, egrets, caracaras, kingfishers and the famous squirrel monkeys made this an afternoon to remember.
