Our first chance to explore a local community was a real treat. San Jorge proved to be a vibrant place, with kids and young people everywhere. Minga Peru is working with several women here that are rightly proud of their achievements and had a chance to share them with us. Later we sailed downriver and turned into the Ucayali, the junction at which the Peruvians claim the Amazon River truly starts. The rest of our trip will be spent on this wild river, the southern east limit of the Pacaya-Samiria Preserve. In the afternoon, we swam on the Clavero Lake and later explored further in the search for wildlife.
