Early this morning we headed ashore on the northern realm of Santa Cruz Island. Our first morning activity was a pre-breakfast walk to Dragon Hill, and while there we saw a couple of flamingoes actively feeding on brine shrimp. As we reached Dragon Hill itself we looked for Galápagos land iguanas and found some of these reptiles coming out of their burrows to warm up under the sun.

After this walk we returned aboard and had breakfast. We had a great sunny morning and perfect for water activities, so we went to a nearby beach while others went to an islet where we snorkeled in deep water with different types of fish and observed very colorful marine invertebrates.

After our water activities we returned aboard for lunch and later on the afternoon we had a Zodiac ride along the coast of Eden Islet. While there we looked and observed sea birds such as blue-footed boobies, brown pelicans, and lava gulls. As we came back to our ship we began a circumnavigation around Daphne Major which is a very important study site for scientists who have been studying Darwin finches for several years.

At the end of the afternoon we had an incredible sunset as we sailed towards Bartholomew Island.
