Today was all about giant tortoises. We currently have 10 species, many in recuperation due to the efforts by scientists, researchers, and Park Wardens from the Galapagos National Park and the Charles Darwin Foundation. Originally these institutions were the two key players, but today we can count on others as well, all concerned with the preservation of this iconic reptile. From different islands evolved different shell shapes that resulted in the best adaptation for that specific environment. It was tortoise day, all day!
