Today we anchored in Academy Bay at the south end of Santa Cruz Island. This is the second largest island after Isabela, in the west. We stayed most of the day on this island and had a chance to observe Galapagos giant tortoises in captivity at the breeding center, as well as in the wild in the highlands of Santa Cruz. We also had the option of walking through a lava tunnel and going to a local farm where we learned a lot about the process of making coffee, sugar cane, alcohol, and chocolate.
