Today we found ourselves at the second largest island of the Galapagos, where the Charles Darwin Research Station and the Galapagos National Park authorities work together for the sake of conservation. Today is giant tortoise day.

Early in the morning we visited the world famous longsome George and Mighty/Super Diego at the research station. We also saw many babies who are incubated and reared by this wonderful ongoing program.

Soon after a walk at the town, we boarded busses that took us up into the highlands to visit the Tomas de Berlanga School and Trapiche, a local farm.

Soon after, we gathered for a delicious lunch at Aquelarre restaurant, and from there we headed into the protected area of the local nature reserve, to explore the lava lubes and look for wild tortoises in their natural habitat. We encountered many individuals, grazed or resting amongst the serene greenery.

Today was clearly a day that many of our guests were waiting for. Our expedition continues on, we cannot wait to tell you what our next adventure is.
